People…

14 01 2009

Hello guys. I’m gonna keep this one short: basically today I’m making major structural changes that will involve many parts of my online life.

Effective immediately, the following projects and partnerships are canceled:

  • The website: A while ago I announced I’d be creating my own personal website but I realized it’d make no sense to build one right now as I didn’t have much content. I’ll consider building a similar website later once I have a better idea about what people will want and more coding skills, which I’m looking forward to developing within the coming months.
  • This blog (yeah, right here): This blog had a great potential, and I’m sad to see it go. But let’s face it, it was underperforming and in addition to that, I think I can spend more time on GeekSmack, which has a lot more readers and relevance than any blog could ever have.
  • Other projects under development: No one other than my very close friends knew I had been working on some stuff to be rolled out soon, and I’m sad to announce I’m cancelling their development effective immediately as they don’t fit my plans anymore.
  • Partnership with RealWorldNow: It’s no secret I’ve dedicated some time reorganizing RealWorldNow, which is owned by my very good friend Ben. Today I’m also sorry to say I’m resigning from all my staff duties there in order to focus solely on GeekSmack and because the particular kind of community RWN is doesn’t fit my future plans. That said, I encourage you all to check out RealWorldNow.co.cc.

Ok, I think I didn’t miss anything. I believe these changes will make it easier for me to manage my online life and to build on top of this. When you build a puzzle, all the pieces must fit, and they didn’t in this case.

To start off, I’m announcing today I’ll start working tomorrow on new articles for GeekSmack and I’ll write common opinion articles in addition to my moderator role. I posted two experimental articles on Wednesday and Thursday last week and feedback was pretty positive (at least according to who I asked), so I think making this regular will be a good start.

So I guess this will be my last blog post in a long time, but I hope you stay tuned on GeekSmack, as all my announcements will show up there.

Thank you.
